Dr. Tamas Ajan, the president of the International Weightlifting Federation, visited Tianjin last week to check the venue to be used for weightlifting during the Sixth East Asian Games in October.
The Gymnasium of the Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC Gymnasium), built in 2006, has a 3,000-seat indoor arena. It will host the weightlifting and judo competitions at the 2013 East Asian Games.
Dr. Ajan was deeply impressed by the facilities and he said that the weightlifting venue is high-quality and fully compliant with IWF regulations. It was the first time he had visited Tianjin, which he thought was a great city.
Athletes, coaches and officials from 9 countries and territories will come to Tianjin for the multi-discipline event that runs from October 6th to 15th. The participating National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Macau, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia and Guam.
