TORMENTED Keith Tonkin shed 12 stone — to become the woman he always wanted to be.

Now having taken the Japanese name Hinoi, she weighs in at just 9st and is due to complete her sex-swap with a £10,000 NHS op later this year.

She said: “I was bingeing to punish the body I hated so much.

"I stayed in my room and had a terrible diet. I would get up at 3am and have eight fried eggs on eight slices of toast and follow that up with packets of crisps.

"As I changed from the old me into the new me I switched to diet shakes and salads and used to walk for miles every day.

"It worked brilliantly and in 18 months I was completely unrecognisable to anyone who had known me before.”

Computer programmer Hinoi, 29, always felt different.

She said: “I didn’t act or think like other boys and that realisation meant I was miserable.”

Then in 2006, elder sister Sharon wed with another sister, Pamela, as bridesmaid.

Hinoi recalled: “I was so jealous of how they looked. I felt an impostor in my suit, knowing I was living a lie.”

In 2009 mum Margaret caught her wearing a skirt and Hinoi, from Middlesbrough, finally found the courage to attend a gender clinic in Sunderland.

She began a course of drugs to block testosterone and help grow curves.

Hinoi said: “I loved the fact that I had boobs and hips and became a much more confident person.

"I can get into glamorous skirts and dresses and now I have these hips I love to shake them on the dancefloor — it’s where I’m at my happiest.”
