A group of Hong Kong women have been reported by Sohu to have paid over 10 million Hong Kong dollars (US$1.3 million) for an opportunity to meet and dine with Kim Soo-hyun, the spunky alien from the Korean drama "My Love from another Star".
In the newest development following China's obsession with this Korean soap-series, a see-saw negotiation was said to have taken place, with Want China Times reporting:
"Hong Kong media reporting that the Hong Kong women paid a middleman to invite Kim to meet him personally over a private banquet. The middleman claimed the star asked for HK$10 million (US$1.3 million) in return. The women discussed among themselves and decided to pay HK$1 million (US$129,000) each to reach the target."
This comes in the midst of reports of opportunistic scalpers honing in on Kim fans, selling tickets up to 25,000 yuan (US$4,015) for a meet-and-greet event hosted in Shanghai last Sunday.
For most, this may seem like the most ludicrous waste of money but be warned, Chinese fans do not take kindly to people questioning intelligence when it comes to their beloved soaps.
